Nike has recently announced a fun, new spin on Jordan 1’s for women. That’s right, it’s going to be a blue tie-dye on this timeless sneaker! This is the one sneaker I am the most excited for, due to the fact that these stray away from the typical color blocks–and really make the shoe different and fun for the summer time. Not to mention, Nike doesn’t have the best track record for making the most aesthetically pleasing shoes for women–giving men better designs and colors; as not every woman wants shoes that look like they’re covered in Easter egg dye! That being said, this is a huge win for Nike and this might be the one shoe to convince more women of turning to sneaker culture.
I particularly want these shoes because they make a statement, without splatters of neon or obnoxious “I’m female sneaker head! I’m wearing pink!”, as it uses shades of blue–creating a toned down women’s shoe. Additionally, I know the tie-dye trend is becoming increasingly popular in millennial and Gen Z fashion, so I hope to incorporate this into my outfits and make the most of this fun trend–which reminds me of where I was born: Berkeley, California. I have extremely fond memories of my parents showing me their college campus, UC Berkeley, and walking past the various street vendors selling their array of tie-dye t-shirts, tank tops, baby bibs, and blankets. I always wanted one of those tie-dye heart tank tops, but they unfortunately never fit me or had my size. However, now is my opportunity to rep some tie-dye in honor of where I’m from–in the form of a sneaker, which I thank San Jose for–and their prevalent streetwear and sneaker culture. By having two meaningful places being representing in a clothing item–I couldn’t be more excited to try and purchase these on June 11th. Not to mention, I have some fun, minimalist outfits planned for these sneakers! From plain white t-shirts with leggings and a black leather jacket–to skinny jeans, black tank top, and these fresh sneakers. I hope to add these to my current collection of sneakers.
