Kogiketsu

Kogiketsu was an online gem I stumbled across, all thanks to a sold listing I wanted on Poshmark. Kogiketsu is a United States, online-only shop that is comprised of all things Japanese aesthetic. I immediately fell in love with it after seeing their array of “kimonos” which are draped, long cardigans with various Japanese designs on it. Everything from cranes, to the iconic Great Wave with a koi fish jumping out of the water. Prior to coming to SJSU, I grew up in a predominantly Caucasian community–although it was still in the Bay Area and people were “liberal”, I always felt an undercurrent of racism and lack of acceptance to POC like myself if I “embraced my culture too much”. That being said, I hid the times I’d go out for Japanese food, or would keep my cute Japanese snacks to myself.

That being said, after I came to SJSU I was blown away by the diversity and how proud people were of their culture. This finally gave me an opportunity to embrace my roots, and others encouraged me to do so. Here, I finally got more invested the culture, and to carry out my love for it, I hope to embrace it with Japanese fashion in t-shirts and fashion kimonos.

Although my stuff hasn’t shipped yet, I’ve already seen tons of glowing reviews. The products go for unbeatable prices, and they offer tons of promos to really discount your Kogiketsu clothing haul. I am beyond excited to receive all of my fashion kimonos, as well as my pastel “Kawaii” windbreaker–which screams “Harajuku” streetwear vibes. That’s another amazing thing about this website–is that their clothes have the various types of Japanese fashion, ranging from the pastel “Kawaii” to the grunge, anime clothing. Whether you’re young at heart, and enjoy pastel colors–or want to appear edgy with a anime graphic shirt and ripped pants; Kogiketsu has you covered! I’m especially excited to wear these fashionable kimonos to a festival or to a fun, summer event (if shelter in place gets lifted before Fall 2020 begins).
